I wanna go where the people go yeah......(getting ones sh*t together)

Morning all. It has been 4 months, and what a four months. In Feb our great friends Jonny Lives! from NYC came over to play with the inevitable pinhole burns. Apart from an aborted trip to Guernsey due to fog which we were gutted about, we played 3 great shows with them and shared a million great stories. They must be checked out at www.jonnylives.com . We are in the process of booking a trip out to LA to play with them. Jonny Dubowsky, Marco Argiro, Claudio Rochat-Felix and Brian Boland are all musicians of pedigree and have played with members of Pearl Jam, The Pixies, The Ramones (yes really) and The Fugees to name but a very few. Together they are the greatest live rock band that you can see where the lead guitarist doesn't wear a school uniform. IPHB have also been playing with the fades. The fades are a garage band the now sound like a british kyuss in the best possible way. We supported them at their sold out single launch for the amazing Mechanno. We are supporting them again this thursday at The Monarch in Camden with Abdoujaperov. It will be ace fun. I will be debuting my new custom shop 355. We are also touring with the fades later in the year. The pin holes go into the studio the weekend after next with Lamik 2000 of Black Daniel, Medicine 8 and Trashmouth. We intend to record four new tracks. Two will be The August Disturbances and Controlled Tailspin the other two don't have names. Dates: 17th May Monarch Camden 25th May The Garage, Highbury 16th June Suraya Club, Kings Cross (My Birthday) 7th July Road Trip, Old Street The French Electric are going great guns, singer Simon has found his feet totally, this is his first band. We are getting picked up all over the world as far away as Russia and Alaska. Some great new songs and a new Human League cover too! Very exciting. If you haven't already got the album it is here! www.thefrenchelectric.com there is a new blog up here too. Dates: 6th July, The Undersolo , Inverness Street, Camden. NOW....click this link..... http://www.btinternet.com/~rhesus/review.htm A long long time ago..... 15 broken drum kits, three smashed custom guitars, two singles, 3 bass players, 2 drummers, 1 near bankruptcy, numerous nervous/ physical/ financial breakdowns and 100 brutal gigs lead to eventual demise of Rhesus, and very nearly me. A few months ago all four members of the final rhesus line up, and a few of the passed ones ended up drinking too much at a french electric gig, we have decided to reform for a one off gig at Gracetonbury at the windmill, Sat 23rd June. We are on at 6pm. (or very early) Please please come. Up in his attic, Wayne found a load of un mixed rhesus recordings that he is going to mix and we will put out later this year. Finally a reminder! My birthday party is at the Suraya Kings cross on Sat 16th July. Entry is free Line up is The Inevitable Pinhole Burns (First on) Rebekah Delgado Generals Wife Keith TOTP The Microdance The Fades Looking forward to it. But for now, a cup of tea. Waking Michelle up and we off to the london pet show. Maximum Rock and Roll.

Its 10 in the morning, at the start of December, I'm writing you now...

Morning all, After a fairly quiet November, one excellent gig by The French Electric not withstanding, December is kicking off nicely .

Next Thursday , 15th Of December, the inevitable pinhole burns are playing at Tom Banks and Tom Cavanaghs club night at the Amersham Arms in New Cross. Having played there in Rhesus with S*M*A*S*H and on bass for Black Daniel I am really looking forward to getting on the excellent stage.

THEN.

New Years Eve. In the passed I have always objected to gigging on new years eve. This year, however The Inevitable Pinhole Burns have been asked to support the amazing David Devant and his Spirit Wife at The 100 Club. Oxford Street. (That is number 100 Oxford Street). We have £10 cheap list. That is £10 to see David Devant @ The 100 Club on New Years Eve.

Get in touch.

THEN....The Angry Bees are back, its a one off , it is the Buffalo Bar, Steven Horry and Myself are re assembling our noise rock devil group. Leona Lewis has just released a cover of NIN Hurt. This is terrible. Venues will be empty tonight because it is the Xfactor. Colplay are still making records. The world needs us more now than it ever did.

THEN. On the 9th Of January, The IPHB and Entourage are heading to the Mountains of Austria to play at Weekender Club in Innsbuck for their Student night.

More to come from The French Electric, including the best album title ever.

The Inevitable Pinhole Burns are writing album number two. It will be heavier and darker.

I am annoyed by any trustifarians who are able to be at the occupy camp because their because their parents benefitted from Thatcherism in the 80's so they don't have to work for a living. That is hypocrisy not protest. I am just saying what I see. I don't know enough about the financial crisis to pass proper judgement on anyone so I won't.

People can STILL download our album for free from here.

T shirts are coming, they are going to look great.

I saw two major gigs in November, Carter USM and The Sisters Of Mercy. It was 1991 and it was amazing.

Now I am off to ASDA to by a Christmas Tree.

Why post historic monsters by Carter USM is so important to me.

When I was 14 I had a summer job weeding friends and family’s gardens in Guernsey for £10 a day. I used to listen to 30 something and 101 Damnations back to back. Then the love album came out when I was 16 and by the time Post Historic was out I was able to actually go to see them. At the time I was at Uni in Plymouth. They were playing in Southampton. Figuring that it couldn’t be far (before the days of the internet and sat nav.) I jumped on my battered and beaten Kawasaki and rode the 6 hours to Southampton. By the time I got there, sober, tired and walking like John Wayne they were just coming on. It was amazing. I watched the show, got on my motorbike and rode back. On the M27 near Fareham, my bike exploded and I had to hitch back, but that is a whole another story!
Fast forward many moons to 2003. Rhesus had lost their drummer, I was tasked with finding a replacement. I had recently discovered “the internet” and found the Carter USM homepage. I sent a message to Fruitbat asking if he knew any drummers. Expecting nothing back I carried on the search. Fruitbat emailed me to say his flatmate was a drummer. Basically he had the job, thankfully he turned out to be pretty good. That was Arran. One day I went to pick Arran up from Fruitbats , Arran was late. The man himself opened the door. We got to chatting, I was unemployed at the time (the only month I have ever been un employed in my life!) I could not have timed it better! Fruitbat was going on tour with Jim Bob the next day and needed a guitarist. He asked if I would do it. Of course I would. I left the house with a new drummer, two great new friends and with a tear in my eye. I was listening to post historic monsters that day. On that day my life changed forever.

Sisters of Mercy:

For anyone who gives a monkeys.
A brief review of the sisters of mercy.
Last night after a large roast dinner and 3 pints of guinness, Foxy, Sara and myself headed for the Devonshire Arms. I expected the place to be rammed full of the crustier than thou’s from the last 30 years. It wasn’t , it was full of the usual bread of tattooed, bearded gentlemen, and ladies listening to inexplicably popular double bass pedal metal. Where are all the Goths? Are they at the roundhouse drinking cider? It would appear not. Who is at the roundhouse then? To be honest, I don’t really know, or care. I now regret not queuing at the heaving merch stall to buy some most excellent t shirts that you just can’t get elsewhere.
I know that the sisters are terrible live. They “always” are. So as I stand casually chatting to friends drinking 4 further pints. The room is suddenly electric purple. (As you would expect). And along comes the doktar....doktar avalanche. Who is now 3 macbooks, booming out da da da da da da da.....then it is first last and always, and it is great, then it is ribbons and that is great too. In fact it gets better and better until the set is closed on Lucretia my Reflection, Vision Thing and Temple of Love. They played a greatest hits set. It all sounded as it should. People yelled and screamed. I went home dumbfounded but very happy. Eldrich didn’t look so good. He did however sound brilliant. 5/5 for doing what they should have done years ago. Play the songs properly. 4 standouts, Something fast, Alice, this Corrosion and Amphetamine Logic. A great, fun, band. Some 19 year old art students were confused, some Goths looked daft and some fans had a great night.

a blog about a new blog CALLING ALL BANDS and the flu

IAMJimrhesus. A long time ago, on the edge of a nervous breakdown in a galaxy far far away I had an idea about writing a book called "The world kicked back a lot f*cking harder" about what it is like to be in a band that seems to be going somewhere, no one knows where, and then ends up going no where. Sort of like the dirt and head on for non famous bands.

This idea lay dormant for many a year until I read Steven Horry's amazing 586 blog. This has spurred me, and Steve if he has time with all of his other stuff to set the book up as a blog for everyone. I am looking for submissions. I want sublime and ridiculous stories about doors falling off cars at 4am on a Tuesday in Coventry, gigs at Oxford University that just turned into pretty much hell. Cost a small fortune and amounted to nothing more than that. A great yarn for the future.

Emily Gosling has agreed to get involved from a content and editing and general knowing what she is doing as where I don't side of things.

Long and short of it is I am taking submissions from anyone who is interested. It will be fun, people might read it even. Some of the tales so far have been brilliant. The can be about anything music or art related. Just send me your stories.

Send yours to jimgervaisebrazier@googlemail.com

Also I have the flu so any received today will cheer me right up!

Musical overload February and Pinhole News and a good band.

Things are weird, but good weird, apart from the fact that I am in Dubai, its March and it is cold. That is not so good, but it is lovely to see my family. I am quite literally waiting for the sun.

So on to music. For years I have avoided synths, to start with because it was 1992 and, apart from Carter, everything with a synth mean't ravers and ravers mean't wankers. Then I started to get the KLF and the dance thing a bit, then I got the sisters of mercy some more, then I became a stupid fucking hippy for a short while, then came subliminal girls, we had a synth, Then came new rave, super super, and more wankers. Anyway, rocket science I though. My sister and her husband very kindly, and I will never forget this, gave me an Ipad yesterday. I downloaded some synth apps, my god they are easy to use. May be I might just become one of those dickheads.

The Inevitable Pinhole Burns is sounding brilliant. The advent of a new heritage H150p has boosted the guitar sound some what. We are churning out new songs let right and centre. Lots of gigs coming up in April, March we shall be getting ready!
Please put 2nd April in your diaries at 93 feet east. New tracks with no names and subjects that change with my personal situation constantly need to be fixed down, lyrics finalised then of into the studio with Lamik 2000 of Black Daniel to record the rest of the pinholes album. Please make sure you add and like our new facebook group.

It is here http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Inevitable-Pinhole-Burns/193233534033430?sk=app_178091127385

There are even two tracks up. Keen to hear thoughts on them, they are tasters, the singles are being held back. We have projects on going with Stuart Semple, Camilla Hedgeland for a single called Cassie that you would have heard if you see us live, otherwise you wouldn't have, and numerous other people collaborating to produce some cross over stuff that is making me sound a bit pretentious but it isn't I assure you.

Gig dates are all up. We have been put into a hat to play the Carter USM support slot in November. I would actually give my right nut for that to happen particularly if it was the Brixton show. If someone is up there watching then please help make it happen.
The biggest mistake I have ever made in my life was when Sub Girls were offered Barrowlands support and I thought I had to give my sister away at her wedding so I couldn't do it, I even tried to get her to change the wedding date, BUT somehow the dates were confused and it was too late anyway. I would do anything to make this happen.......anything.

Heart Kill Giant is sounding ace too, now we are playing the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton next Friday 11th March. Please come along. It should be a busy one. We are playing the Camden Crawl and several other dates, looking to get some more festivals confirmed. I will tell you when we have.

http://heartkillgiant.bandcamp.com/album/the-heart-ep

Dates here, I must put these in my own diary! PMC is a genius. Come see us for more dark acoustic sounds.

We are recording with Mayumi Carrex at the moment, you can't hear any of that yet.

Subliminal Girls is now dead forever. That is it, game over, so long and thanks for all the promises, the heart breaks, the broken cars, the booze, the fun, the inspiration for the songs and everything that went with it, but no thanks for all the stress. Special thanks to Ciaran McNamee who stood it and did an amazing job on the guitar at the last second for the last two shows. Pop Art and Proud for Special needs, of which somewhere there is a boot leg.

The Marksmen will rise from the ashes. Songs are on the way " A dark void for the deeply destroyed, the last safe haven for the paranoid and she said, oh, it's all for you."

The 18 Carat Wreck Affair, love affair, pop affair and now filthy love rock affair is back for a few shows, we played at DB's birthday at the Buffalo Bar in what was to be a weekend of it for the personal life and also for drinking. How ever it all turned out good, the gig triumphed, along with my personal life, (you may have seen me smiling more than usual of late, there is very good reason for that).

Despite a biblical hangover 18 carat did what we never failed to do but with the added twist that Steven "Fucking" Horry now understands rock music and IAMJim"fucking"Rhesus has learned to play the guitar and actually bothered learning the chords. There were no nervous breakdowns imminent so, together with "Keyboard" Kate Dornan, Patrick Joseph Edward Barrett and Andrew "The human metrognome" Bowker we decided we needed to do another, at 93 Feet East, 23rd April, a Saturday night. No excuses, no knives.

http://www.myspace.com/the18caratloveaffair

In other news, I love the mountain goats, I might even buy an acoustic guitar. That is a big fucking might.

I saw a band the other day that were good. They are called The Microdance. They are excellent in fact. If are good too.

See you at The Ritzy Brixton next Friday for Heart Killed Giant. 11th March.

Barbed wire kisses.

Sincerely JRhesus
